WHO WE ARE

The Pacific Southwest Conference is a mission region of the Evangelical Covenant Church encompassing Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah. We seek to support ministries to and with all ages reflecting the diversity of race, culture, and class within our region. We affirm the Covenant's identity, biblical mission, enduring commitments, and core beliefs.

WHY WE EXIST

We exist to discern God's Kingdom building movement and align our resources to support opportunities for planting, adopting, and developing healthy, reproducing congregations.

OUR VISION FOR MISSION

Our vision for mission is to be a mosaic of churches working interdependently to reach the unchurched and equip believers to transform lives and communities.

OUR MISSION PRIORITIES

Church Planting - Initiating and nurturing new church plants in partnership with existing churches.

Church Development - Resourcing local churches in visioning, staffing, structuring for mission, and equipping leaders.

Church Outreach - Resourcing local churches in evangelism and community
transformation ministries.

OUR STRATEGIC FOCUS AREAS, 2006 - 2010

  • Compassion and Justice Ministries - resource churches in planning and implementing sustainable community transformation ministries
  • Leader Formation - call forth, equip, and release emerging leaders and current leaders in church plants and existing churches
  • Immigrant and Multicultural Ministries - develop immigrant, ethnic, and multiethnic/multicultural ministries reflecting God's concern for justice
  • Mission Expansion - intentionally plant churches in partnership with existing churches and other organizations
  • Breakout Ministries - coach pastors and lay leaders to envision and guide development of healthy, reproducing churches

OUR STRATEGY

We seek to facilitate connections among pastors and congregations within geographic clusters and develop partnerships with and among congregations, conference centers, and Covenant institutions in our region to advance Christ's mission.

HISTORY AND SCOPE OF ORGANIZATION

The Pacific Southwest Conference of The Evangelical Covenant Church was informally organized in 1902, a regional association of Covenant churches formed to carry out ministries that are more effectively and efficiently done together rather than independently.

The Pacific Southwest Conference is organized into three operating divisions currently headquartered at the administrative office in Concord, California. The PSWC owns and operates two conference centers: Mission Springs Conference Center in Scotts Valley, California and Alpine Covenant Conference Center in Blue Jay, California.

The Pacific Southwest Conference of The Evangelical Covenant Church is incorporated in the state of California. All Conference financial activities throughout all three divisions are fully disclosed and certified in audited financial statements.

February 22, 2001 marked the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Pacific Southwest Conference. Read about the first 25 years of the Covenant Church in California by clicking the links below:
