Fall Meet Up - November 4-6, 2022 at Mission Springs
To build community and help students make meaningful connections with each other and God.
Hebrews 10:24-25 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Cost: $225 per person. We realize that some churches add an additional amount to cover the cost of gas and the cost of leaders. We will work with each individual church so the online registration cost display on the Mission Springs Website matches what you request. When the event is over, Mission Springs will cut you a check for the additional funds that were paid.
The Base Cost is $225 per person.
Registration
This is the first time we’re partnering with Mission Springs to host registration so we’re all learning a new system together. Here are a few of the details that you’ll need to know…
STEP 1 - Fill out the Youth Group RSVP Form Online
STEP 2 - Parent /Guardian Registers their participant on the Mission Springs Website
Each individual needs to register themselves on the Mission Springs Website. This allows parents to digitally sign the Medical Release and Liability Release online.
Youth Pastors do not need to collect any paperwork from participants this year, it’s all done through the Mission Springs Website
Adults will need to register themselves online as well (If your church pays for adults to attend Youth Events, Mission Springs will issue a coupon code for your adult leaders to use to reduce their overall cost online)
Spots: We have 200 open spots at Mission Springs for this event
Location: Mission Springs Camp and Conference Center
Mission Springs is located at 1050 Lockhart Gulch Rd. Scotts Valley, CA 95066
Website at https://www.missionsprings.com/ Phone: 831-335-9133
Planning Team: This year we’re trying something new! We’re deepening our partnership with Mission Springs and planning the Fall Meet Up together. Bronson Aalgaard from Heights Church and Katie Falgien from Hope Center are heading up the planning for the PSWC.
Meals at the Fall Retreats
We do our best to accommodate every student at our Fall Retreats. If you have Food Allergies, please be sure to list them on the Mission Springs Food Allergy Form. (In order to accommodate your dietary restrictions, this online form needs to be filled out two weeks before the start of the event.)
In rare circumstances, an individual may need to bring additional food with them to camp and a refrigerator is made available for your use.
Housing Accommodations
Students and Adults are housed together at our Fall Retreats. We work with each Youth Group to determine the best housing option for each church. Sometimes multiple churches will share a cabin and we’ll do our best to let you know that ahead of time. The final numbers from each church determines our housing assignments and we don’t typically know exactly where each church will be until the week of Camp.
Cabins are equipped with bathrooms, toilets, sinks and showers.
You will need to bring a sleeping bag and pillow as linens are not provided. You might even bring a twin fitted sheet to go on top of the mattress.
Safety
We program with safety in mind. Each Youth Group receives the location of area hospitals with their address in case a student needs to be seen by a doctor or a visit to the Emergency Room is needed. All student medication is to be collected by the Youth Pastor prior to the start of camp. We provide simple band aids and cold packs during the event. Please bring a fuller First Aid Kit for your Youth Group.
Packing Lists
Clothes for three days, Sleeping Bag & Pillow, Shampoo & Soap, Toiletries, & a Towel, Water Bottle & a Backpack, Board Games, Sports Equipment, Snacks to share, Bible, Pen, and Journal, Shoes to run around in.
Weather
It’s the Fall Retreat not a Winter Camp so we don’t predict terrible weather. However, you never know what the weather is going to do so pay attention to the weather forecasts the week of your Fall Retreat. Mountain Weather can be different and change suddenly.
Spending Money
Buying snacks is often a highlight of a retreat for students! We understand that some students have limited funds. With this in mind, we provided a snack option during our programmed activities to supplement the Snack Shack. Each student will receive a Fall Retreat T-Shirt as part of their Registration Payment.
Additional money is not required for a student to participate. Please use good judgement in determining what to send with each student.
*Occasionally youth groups will go out to eat or grab lunch together on the way home. Pay attention to your Youth Pastor so you can bring what you need.
Free Time Activities
Saturday Afternoon is set aside for a variety of Free Time Activities. Weather permitting, we’ll have access to High Adventure Activities like Rock Climbing Walls and Adventure Courses. Sports equipment is available and the game rooms are open for use.
We are asking that all groups stay at Mission Springs for free time on Saturday in order for students to mix and build friendships. Please plan any off site excursions to happen before the event or afterwards on Sunday.
More details on Free Time activities will be posted here in the future.
Friday Arrival, Dinner, and Programming
Southern California Retreats begin with Dinner on Friday night at 6:30 PM at Angeles Crest. Breakfast on Sunday is the final meal served.
Mission Springs does not serve dinner on Friday night. The first meal at Mission Springs is Saturday breakfast and the final meal is Sunday breakfast. Pack a sack dinner for Friday or eat on the way up! Traffic often causes groups to arrive late so eating in your vehicles is suggested.
Programming will not start late on Friday Evening. We will begin with the groups that have arrived and if you’re late, please jump into our activities when you arrive.
Evening Program starts at (To Be Determined Soon) PM on Friday night.
Sunday Departure
Breakfast is the final meal at our Fall Retreats. Students and Adults typically pack up their vehicles before breakfast so they can begin their trip home after our final programmed time together. Depending on the distance you’re traveling to get to the Fall Retreat, you may want to plan to eat lunch together on the way home.
Cell Phone Service and Usage
Our Host Facilities are located in the mountains and while the cell coverage has improved over the years, it’s not as good as it is where you live. Depending on your service provider, you may have a great signal or you might have no coverage at all. We encourage our students to disconnect from their devices and screens while we’re together but we know that their phones are also their cameras.
The decision to bring cell phones or leave them at home is up to each individual church.
WiFi at Mission Springs
There is limited guest WiFi for general use. Hopefully you won’t need to be online during the weekend we’re together at Mission Springs. The WiFi is good enough to check email and maybe do a Zoom Call but we try to stay off the WiFi.
